In this class we will focus on drawing our own feet, either our bare feet OR our feet clothed by shoes. Our feet are what we STAND UPON when we get up and walk. Our feet help us to balance ourselves as we stand still, (in a line at the bank or grocery store), or when we walk, run and move around.
We have many verbal ways of expressing feet: “To get one’s feet wet” means to begin some activity; “To put the shoe on the other foot” means a situation has reversed; “To have ones feet on the ground” means to be practical and sensible; “To get a foot in the door” means to gain an introduction to an organization; “To hold someones feet to the fire” means to put pressure on them to get a desired result.
We will dialogue about our issues with feet, shoes, fashion and culture. We’ll think deeply about the issues we STAND FOR and the principles we STAND UPON as we go through experiences in this constantly changing world. A little observational drawing and a little imaginative drawing go a long way in helping us understand that everything we need is within us…IF we know what to look for.
Bring at least two pair of shoes to class. Any shoes are fine: Favorite shoes, most hated shoes, your brother’s shoes, sandals, boots, clogs, heels. Also bring paper, sketchbook, pencil, pen, eraser. I will provide an electric sharpener, music, guidance and uplifting instruction to connect you with your innate ability to draw what you SEE.
Bookings are closed for this event.
